About John
As a recent graduate from Georgia State University, I am a proud Atlanta native and plan to stay for the foreseeable future. Something interesting about me is I spent my last two years in undergrad working jobs in the film industry, most notably as a grip and lighitng technician and camera assistant. As you may know, Georgia has been a hotspot for the film industry for the past eight or so years, and being passionate about film, I decided to pursue it. This interest in the creative arts is what motivated me to pursue an education in English, and I would be happy to give advice to students with similar interests.
Aside from my work in film, my background is English, which includes rhetoric, academic writing and proofreading, thesis development, reading comprehension, copywriting, website editing, and business writing. I look forward to working together!

To open a session, I would very simply ask a student what, specifically, they need help with. I think it's important, for time's sake, for a student to have a clear idea of what they're struggling with so I know that I'm helping with exactly what it is that they need help with. If the problem is developing a thesis, I would show them examples of good thesis statements and how they correlated to the subsequent paper. If it's trouble with reading comprehension, I would go through finding keywords, and how they are crucial in finding correct answers on quizzes. After some lesson time, I would provide my own quiz for the reading to check progress. These lessons can apply to all students from k-12 up until bachelors level students. I also provide more advanced lessons in the fields of website building and business writing, typically for bachelors students.
