About Willis Walter
I am a dedicated tutor specializing in Mathematics, Science, and Physics with a strong foundation in both conceptual teaching and exam preparation. My approach is patient, methodical, and tailored to each student's unique learning style. I hold a solid grasp of high school and first year university curricula, including AP Physics, IB Math, and calculus based mechanics. I have guided many students through challenging topics by breaking down complex ideas into clear, manageable steps. My professionalism shows in every lesson: I arrive prepared, track progress systematically, and communicate clearly with both students and parents. You can trust that I will create a supportive, focused environment where questions are welcomed and understanding is the goal. Whether you are struggling with word problems or aiming for top exam scores, I am here to help you build lasting confidence in your abilities.

My teaching method for Math, Science, and Physics focuses on concepts first, then problems, not memorizing formulas without understanding the "why." I use Socratic questioning, visual analogies like projectile motion as a basketball, and active recall to reinforce learning. A typical 60 minute lesson starts with a 5 minute warm up from the last session, moves into 15 minutes of core concept explanation with visuals, then 25 minutes of guided practice where we solve problems together. You then try one problem solo for 10 minutes, and we wrap up with key takeaways and 2 to 3 homework problems. What sets me apart is bridging math and physics by showing how calculus makes kinematics intuitive. I have five different ways to explain any concept when you say "I don't get it." I also teach exam strategy, including spotting question patterns and managing time under pressure. My lessons are for high school students taking algebra based physics or pre calculus, and first or second year undergraduates taking calculus based physics, differential equations, linear algebra, or chemistry basics. I specifically target AP Physics 1, 2, and C, IB Math and Physics, college general physics, and anyone struggling to connect formulas to real world situations.
