About Alayna
As a science tutor, my goal is to help students build a strong understanding of biological concepts while also developing confidence in their ability to think like scientists. I believe that learning science is not just about memorizing facts, but about understanding how ideas connect and being able to apply them to real-world situations. My approach focuses on guiding students through concepts step by step, asking thoughtful questions, and helping them replace misconceptions with accurate scientific understanding.
Students and families can expect organized, patient, and reliable instruction. I am committed to helping students improve their understanding of science, strengthen their academic performance, and develop the confidence they need to succeed in their biology courses.

What sets me apart as a tutor is my background in teaching biology to high school students in grades 10–12 and my training in designing lessons that address student misconceptions. Through my experience completing my biology teaching endorsement at Eastern Washington University and student teaching at Central Valley High School, I have learned how to break down complex biological ideas into clear, manageable steps. I also emphasize creating a supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes, which helps them build both understanding and confidence.
My lessons are designed for students grades 6-12 taking biology courses such as general biology, honors biology, or introductory life science. I support students who need help understanding core concepts, preparing for exams, completing assignments, or strengthening their scientific reasoning skills. My tutoring is especially helpful for students who want clearer explanations of biological processes, support with study strategies, or guidance in developing scientific literacy.
