About Christyann

My name is Christyann Cosio, I go by Christy. I am a recent graduate from Eastern Virginia Medical School and for my undergrad, I went to the Pennsylvania State University (WE ARE!!!). I currently work at my local health department as a health counselor, educating people on how to best stay healthy. That being said I have a huge passion for helping people, whether it's helping them stay healthy or helping them understand the ins and outs of a cell in biology. I have spent several years tutoring and it is always a joy to watch a student understand a subject!

About the lesson

Having to do homework or study for a big test can feel very overwhelming and impossible. I will help you form good studying habits and ways to make such a daunting task seem a little less scary. I will introduce you to study habits that helped me get through high school and college. I myself have gone through tutoring lessons and it has been through those tutoring lessons that I've learned how to best approach other students.

I also teach little ones how to read. I have had experience not only with my own little family members but I worked at a preschool for 3 years in college. I was a literacy mentor and it was my job to teach the preschoolers how to read and understand what they are reading.

I have lots of patience with children and young adults. I have experienced the struggles of hard learning subjects so I know what it takes to help you or your child persevere through a difficult subject matter.

A typical lesson plan would include going over any homework a student may have, reading through any lessons they learned at school, studying for a test, and teaching on the use of outlines/flashcards.

For younger students, a lesson plan would include reading books of their choosing. The lesson would consist of guided reading and allowing them to take charge with my assitance.
