About Andrew
I love history. I have spent the last 4 years of my life studying history, and how to become a professional teacher! I have experienced teaching entire classrooms of students! I love teaching and I want to provide a creative learning environment!
As a student teacher, I have experience managing and organizing classrooms of students. I have developed skills in lesson planning, coordination with peers, and interpersonal relations with my students. I feel that my skills as an educator will support me in my ability to tutor students on an individual level. Although I am versed in History, I love other subjects such as astronomy, psychology, and sociology that I can use to support students with a variety of different majors. I have developed as an educator through exposure to the classroom. I feel that the best way to learn is through guided experience
As a History educator, infusing lectures with the experiences of the underrepresented is vital. Students who do not see themselves in history are less likely to care. I personally include the experiences of BIPOC and LGBTQ+ individuals so students feel validated in their existence in history. Students need the context of past oppression, and civil rights injustices to understand current world events. White males dominate history because that is who is seen in history. A change in education must be made to infuse the experience of others.

Through my education at CWU, I have been educated on a diverse set of lesson plans that create a more entertaining learning environment.
By June 2023 I will have completed my student teaching and graduated from CWU. I will have earned a history/social studies teaching bachelor's and secondary education bachelor's, along with a geography minor. I will have 450 hours of teaching experience in the classroom. Over the summer I will be given my teaching certificate through Washington State. I am hoping to use my education and skills in order to provide a supportive tutoring experience. I am going to continue my education while gaining more experience on how to better educate students.
