About Tylar
I currently work in an LAUSD magnet school with an emphasis on technology and digital literacy, meaning I know exactly what it takes to apply what you learn in English to the outside world you're exposed to everyday. Technology also makes it easy to make learning fun, with gaming and social activities. I want every student to reach their full potential in all areas of learning. To do so, I encourage asking questions and creativity. I work with you to never dismiss an idea, but to help it grow and develop so you have the confidence to take learning from our sessions into the classroom with you-- and hopefully, be able to help a friend with your knowledge. I'd rather you ask questions than be left alone in the dark. I am here not only as a tutor, but as a mentor, helping you towards a brighter, more confident future, starting with academics. I understand the importance of confidence and learning and want to share that with you, whatever your path in life since, as you're reading now, words matter.

Built from in-class experience, tailored with activities to enhance social skills, communication, and creativity. Every lesson includes practice time as well as ways for you to demonstrate your skills. It is my goal to make learning fun and approachable and the best way to do that is to let students teach what they have learned, boosting their confidence and understanding of the learning without them noticing.
A typical lesson plan includes a warm-up focused on social-emotional learning connected to the content of the lesson followed by direct teaching and a chunk of practice time in which students, through games, and socializing, show what they have learned through speaking. I have taught for both middle and high school magnet students and emphasize making learning accessible to all students, including those with disabilities due to my Special Education background as well.
I will ensure your child not only understands the content, but can apply and reteach the content through high engagement activities and rigorous direct teaching.
