As a child, math was always a question of why? to me. It represented a language with which I could express myself and make sense of the world. Even in school, I never took the teacher's word as fact. I would always ask why?. I believe this is the best way in which to both learn and teach any mathematical concept. I believe memorization of algorithms does not always do the trick and, in the end, is simply not as satisfying. I will ensure that each child understands how the math concept works in order to better help them perform on exams, in class, and the SAT particularly.
