My approach to tutoring involves understanding your starting position - eg. wanting session deliverables, understanding the assignment/brief/course or seeking a second opinion on design. Usually that entails giving relevant tips/tricks or suggesting case studies and examples.
I have tutored students throughout my own studies, in both English and Mandarin. My experience participating as a Mentor in UNSW's BESA Peer Mentoring Program (2020-2021) showed that different people have their own learning styles, which I took note of and adapted accordingly as the sessions go by.
