About Aaren

In my personal life, music is an everyday ritual. I love playing the ukelele, jamming on my guitar, or listening to music on long car rides. I often go longboarding, hiking, and I enjoy writing poetry and fantasy novels. I am a lover of theatre, fitness, art, and literature. My naturally nurturing and caring personality is my greatest asset, and I have found that I will do anything to help someone else out. During my lessons, I stay loose and adaptable, flowing with the conversation and lining up some key points at the beginning of each lesson to ensure we have a great session. I stay in contact through email and am happy to be in communication, if desired, with parents/guardians and teachers to ensure the utmost success of our students. I am an advocate for a fun and comfortable learning space and my main goal is for my students to always feel confident with whom they've entrusted their education.

About the lesson

Education has always played a valuable role in my life, which is why I've chosen to pursue such a difficult yet rewarding career. I.emphasize the importance of knowledge and growth above all other facets. I believe education is more than just studying; it requires massive amounts of dedication, hard work, organization, and patience. These skills are core to my tutoring philosophy.

I spent a portion of my undergraduate years tutoring many college peers through my University's tutoring center, where I was reviewed positively by advisors and given professional tutoring training. I finished my undergrad during the prime of the pandemic, so I am well-versed with the difficulties of online education and I am very understanding about the complications of education in today's world. Within my tutoring, I've seen a plethora of individualized growth, ranging anywhere from an improvement of time-management skills, a new outlook on educational stress, and intense amounts of knowledge growth within the designated subject. I pursued my Bachelor's of English with the intent on becoming a professor, and I will be continuing my Graduate Studies at Appalachian State University with a concentration in English Pedagogy and College Teaching. Education continues to be my biggest passion and, with luck, I will distill these passions onto you or your child.

I have experience tutoring at a college and high school level, though I am well-equipped to take on younger students as well. I specialize in the Humanities, especially Language Arts and Social Studies. I also specialize in general tutoring, including but not limited to essay-writing and editing, time-management, organization, strategy, test prep (ACT and SAT or general testing), and French!
