Hello and 你好! I am an English tutor from Los Angeles, California. I have experience and passion for ballet, swimming, tennis, playing classical music, cooking, reading and art. My favourite subject at school was history, and I love to explore different historical interpretations of periods of economic growth, war, and political conflict. I received an International Baccalaureate diploma in Switzerland, practise Mandarin and English fluently, and have started learning French and German recreationally.

Language acquisition and mastery are best achieved through a real-world approach. My lessons are structured to combine strong academic foundations with practical application. For English language learners, sessions typically begin with focused grammar exercises. For students working on essay writing, lessons start with literature annotation and analysis, before progressing to applying these skills in real-life contexts.
This approach is particularly effective for English learners, who often progress much faster when their personal interests—such as films, sports, or current events—are incorporated into lessons.
I work with students from primary school through to final-year A-level. Having recently completed the IB Diploma, I am well positioned to guide GCSE and A-level students through successful essay writing, drawing on first-hand experience of rigorous academic assessment. I focus on both clear structure and precise, professional language. Whether the task is literary or rhetorical analysis, students are taught proper academic format—not simply to memorise templates for exams, but to fully understand and apply these skills as they move into higher education.
Strong grammar is the foundation of every effective essay, and I firmly believe in teaching English accurately and thoroughly, regardless of a student’s current level.
I also offer homework support for primary and secondary school students across a range of subjects. My strongest areas include:
