About Sean
Hi! My name is Sean. I am currently pursuing my Law degree in Boston, Massachusetts and I am extremely well versed in Social Studies and Government.
In 2020, I graduated from American University's School of Public Policy in Washington, DC. While at AU I studied under former members of congress, former cabinet appointees, DC insiders, policy wonks, and published political theorists.
I traveled to Europe for my study abroad where I worked for a Public Affairs firm two street over from the European Parliament. While in Belgium, my cohort and I met a litany of power brokers in the EU and NATO, including the US Ambassador to Georgia, the President of the European Court of Justice, Judges at the Hague, learned from NATO Spokesperson Jamie Shea, Chairman of the Counsil of the Regions, Representatives of the European Parliament and more.
In addition to my overseas experience, I work for Congressman Jim Himes in his Capitol Hill office. While I was there I got hands on experience writing legislation, assisting constituents, and sitting in on high level meetings covering every area of government and Politics.
Through my experience working in both the Public and Private Sector I have learned many valuable lessons about how the way you communicate and the value you place on information directly effects your professionalism and proficiency.
After graduating during the Covid-19 Pandemic I stayed in DC for a few years before moving back to New England on a Full Academic scholarship to pursue my Law Degree in Boston. I plan on specializing in public interest law, meaning becoming a Public Defender or a Legal Aid Service provider.
I have a dog named Mick and my hobbies include: Playing Hockey, Bass Guitar, Cooking, Video Games and Reading.

Hello! Thank you for looking at my profile.
I am an experienced Government Affairs Specialist Currently Completing a law degree.
If you are looking to bolster your knowledge about American Government, trying to improve your critical reading or writing skills, or looking for a better way to learn about History and Civics, I can help with that.
My teaching method is centered around multi-source topic deep dives. I find this approach works best whether you are out to learn about a specific topic for an upcoming exam or just looking for more area confidence.
First, we will pick a topic, whether its a general topic (i.e. Contemporary American History 1900-1945) or a specific issue (i.e. The European Union's role in global Peacekeeping).
Then we identify the useful materials. I believe that using multiple sources promotes a more thorough and enjoyable learning experience. It also allows teaches the benefits of Primary and Secondary sources respectively. This means using articles, journal excerpts, textbooks (Both the students and passages from my own collection), YouTube videos, and (my personal favorite) speaker series.
Each topic we will call a module, each module will have three phases.
1. Overview
An initial tour through the typical sources on a topic, the important institutions and power dynamics that effect it, and how learning about the topic is beneficial to the student. (This is a method of goal setting)
2. Game Playing
Game playing is an excellent way of strengthening a students confidence with a subject. These can vary by what the topic is but usually involve game show like matching games, mock simulations, information search games, and debate games.
3. Evaluation
A brief 10 question quiz. This will typically be: 6 multiple choice, 3 Short answer, 1 long answer/problem and a Bonus question. The evaluation is not meant to be an "exam" or a way to challenge the student, but rather a tool to promote the student's faith in their ability to interact with the subject proficiently and a way for them to have both a benchmark and a form of feedback on what they've learned.
The learning goal of each module is to get the student to a place where they are comfortable openly discussing the topic, and to not only be confident in their knowledge in the subject but in the ways that they can leverage that knowledge in the future.
These lessons can be altered to suit anyone from an under-graduate to Grade School student. Each student learns differently and the benefit of tutoring is being able to take advantage of that.
