About Brook
Hi! I’m Brook. I want to teach because I’ve always enjoyed explaining ideas and helping people understand topics that once seemed difficult. This draws upon my own experiences in the classroom where I learned that a great teacher really makes a hell of a difference. There’s nothing more rewarding than seeing someone gain confidence in their abilities and realise they’re capable of achieving more than they thought.

I believe the best tutoring is about developing understanding, confidence, and independent thinking, not simply memorising content for exams (while that is important too). Having recently completed the IB Diploma with 42 points, including 7s in HL English A: Literature and HL History, I understand both the academic demands of the course and the strategies needed to succeed, having experienced them firsthand, only months previously.
My lessons are tailored to each student’s individual needs and learning style. Whether you’re aiming to improve essay writing, analyse literature more effectively, strengthen historical argument, or prepare for examinations, I focus on breaking down complex ideas into clear, manageable steps. I encourage students to ask questions, think critically, and develop the skills needed to tackle unfamiliar problems with confidence.
As a very recent graduate, I am familiar with the current IB syllabus, assessment criteria, and examiner expectations. I aim to create a supportive, engaging environment where students feel comfortable making mistakes, asking questions, and steadily improving. My goal is to help them genuinely understand and enjoy their subjects, as I did.
