About Nilmyn

Hi, I’m Nilmyn, a Grade 10 AP student at the University of Toronto Schools. I enjoy working with kids and helping them feel more comfortable with math in a low-pressure, supportive way.

I know that math can sometimes feel confusing or frustrating, so I focus on explaining things in simple steps and finding different ways to make concepts click. I try to keep lessons relaxed and adjust my pace depending on what the student needs. If something takes more time, that’s completely fine. We can slow down, go back over it, and practice until it makes sense.

Outside of school, I’ve been involved in things like field hockey, school clubs, and teamwork-based activities, which have helped me become patient, organized, and good at communicating with others.

My goal is to help elementary students feel more confident in math and actually feel okay asking questions without stress. I want lessons to feel comfortable, clear, and encouraging.

About the lesson

Hi, I’m Nilmyn, a Grade 10 AP student at the University of Toronto Schools with a strong passion for math and helping younger students build confidence in their skills.

My teaching approach focuses on making math simple, understandable, and enjoyable. I believe every student learns differently, so I adjust my lessons based on each student’s strengths, challenges, and learning style. I use clear step-by-step explanations, visual examples, practice questions, and different problem-solving strategies to help students truly understand concepts instead of just memorizing procedures.

A typical lesson begins with a quick review of previous material and identifying areas where the student may need extra support. We then work through new concepts together using examples and guided practice before completing independent questions to build confidence. If a student needs more time on a specific topic, we will slow down, review the foundations, and practice until they feel comfortable and confident moving forward.

My lessons are designed for elementary school students who want extra help, stronger foundational skills, and a more positive approach to math. As a current student with extensive experience in these concepts, I have learned a variety of methods and strategies that allow me to explain ideas in different ways. I understand that students may struggle with certain topics, and I aim to make math less stressful by finding explanations and approaches that work best for each individual learner.
