About Xander
I have just under 6 years' experience playing the timpani, having been a student of Tony Maloney (with over 50 years of percussion experience). I have played with various top music ensembles including the London Schools Symphony Orchestra, London Youth Wind Band, London Youth Concert Band and the Centre for Young Musicians' Senior Percussion Ensemble, playing at roughly Grade 8 on timpani and untuned percussion.

I believe that technique is the basis of all percussion playing. Avoiding injury is essential, so I would first focus on any technique issues or recommendations before moving on to a more student-led approach, helping a student with any pieces they would like to learn, issues they have or recommending percussion parts to learn myself.
