About Emily
I achieved grade 9 in English literature and English language at GCSE. I am now studying English literature and creative writing with the Open University. I am also an aspiring writer of short fiction.
I have a TEFL qualification and I am DBS certified. I have experience volunteering in schools and I lead a reading group for children in my local library.
I like to think I am an open and friendly person who students will feel comfortable sharing their ideas with. I have travelled extensively in North and South America as a qualified TEFL tutor. I currently live in rural Kent and enjoy swimming, canoeing and playing the guitar in my free time.

My lessons will be tailored to fit the needs of each individual student. I can help students to develop their analytical and close reading skills in order to answer GCSE questions. I can also help them understand Shakespearean language and poetic devices. I also specialise in Victorian Gothic literature.
My method involves helping students work through a text or poem addressing any specific issues they may be having, including SPAG if I think it is needed.
I also offer creative writing classes in which I use a range of encouraging activities to help students develop their craft. I teach prose writing, short story writing and poetry writing.
