About Patience
About Me
My name is Patience Sylvanus Maila and I am an Early Years and Primary English tutor based in Dutse, Kubwa.
I love working with children from Nursery to Primary 3. Watching a child go from "I can't read" to reading their first storybook is the best feeling for me.
Why I Want to Teach
I believe every child can learn if someone is patient enough to teach them the right way.
I started tutoring because I saw my son struggle to read in Primary 2. When I used songs, games, and phonics with him, he improved in just 2 months. That moment made me decide to help other children too.
My goal is not just to pass exams. I want your child to love English, speak confidently, and not be afraid of books.
What Makes Me Different
I am patient, I use lots of games and praise, and I send parents weekly updates so we work as a team.

Hello! I am Patience, a passionate Early Years and Primary School English & Literacy tutor based in Kubwa/Duste, Abuja.
I specialize in helping Nursery - Primary 6 pupils who struggle with reading, phonics, spelling, and writing. My goal is simple: to make your child confident in English within 3 months.
**My Personal Teaching Method:**
I use a "Sound → Word → Story" approach. We start by fixing the foundation with Jolly Phonics and sight words. Then we build reading fluency through fun stories and games. Finally, we work on writing sentences and comprehension. Every lesson is tailored to your child's level - no one-size-fits-all.
**What a lesson with me looks like:**
1. 5min Warm-up: Phonics songs and review
2. 20min New Concept: Learn new sounds, words, or grammar
3. 25min Practice: Reading, writing activities, and games
4. 10min Test + Homework: To track progress
I send parents weekly updates and a simple homework plan so we can work together.
I am patient, encouraging, and I believe every child can read and write well.
