I am a cybersecurity and telecom professional with over 15 years of international experience, currently pursuing a Master of Business Informatics by thesis at a leading research institution in Auckland. My career has spanned senior leadership and technical roles across Sri Lanka, Dubai, Brunei, the Czech Republic, and beyond—where I’ve led award-winning cybersecurity strategies and large-scale security initiatives in both government and telecom sectors. My passion for teaching has been longstanding. I began by conducting sessions at the Open University of Sri Lanka and have continued to deliver cybersecurity awareness and training workshops throughout my professional journey. These sessions were consistently well-received, reflecting my ability to break down complex concepts into accessible and engaging learning experiences. I want to teach because I genuinely enjoy mentoring and empowering others—especially those looking to enter or grow in the field of cybersecurity and IT. Teaching allows me to share not just technical knowledge, but real-world insights that help learners build confidence, develop critical thinking, and make meaningful progress toward their goals. My tutoring approach is practical, interactive, and firmly learner-centered, drawing on over two decades of global experience in cybersecurity, telecommunications, and computer networks. I blend strong theoretical foundations with real-world insights, using case studies, scenario-based discussions, and hands-on exercises to make complex concepts relatable and engaging. Lessons typically run for 60 to 90 minutes and are always tailored to individual learning styles, backgrounds, and objectives. Before regular sessions begin, I offer a 30–60 minute introductory consultation to understand each learner’s goals, motivations, current level, and career aspirations. This helps me personalize the learning journey—whether it’s for students, career changers, or professionals seeking to upskill in IT security, networking, or telecommunications. I am deeply passionate about mentoring and empowering others in their learning journey. Early in my career, I conducted sessions at the Open University of Sri Lanka, and was honored to proctor a live CNN interview with Sir Arthur C. Clarke during the Y2K millennium event in 1999. Over the years, I have also designed and led award-winning cybersecurity strategies for telecom and government organizations across Sri Lanka, Dubai, Brunei, and Europe. These diverse experiences shape my empathetic, motivational, and highly adaptive teaching style—one that ensures learners gain both confidence and practical readiness.
