I was a valedictorian when I graduated from high school. I also earned a Dean's List title in the four semesters I attended one of the prestigious universities in Ethiopia, Addis Ababa University, majoring in Statistics. Now I am learning on a fully funded scholarship at the University of York, majoring in Biomedicine. During my academic journey, I got the privilege of working in a leadership position in various clubs at my school, focusing on Mathematics and Science. I also established a charity club that would gather skilled volunteer students to teach students in rural parts of Ethiopia who were struggling in Math and other science subjects. My involvement in different clubs and interaction with my teammates enabled me to develop strong communication skills with students from diverse socio-economic groups and the heart to be in service of other people. On a daily basis, I explore the best scientifically proven teaching strategies and implement them in any teaching opportunity I get to apply. I concentrate on relating scientific facts to solving real-life problems as it makes the subject matter exciting and practical. I enjoy teaching and love making lessons as hands-on as possible to address the different learning styles of her students. My friendly and energetic demeanor allows my students to feel comfortable asking questions and showing their understanding of the content. I have kept myself to a high standard as an educator and will always expect the same from my students! I would welcome the opportunity to discuss further how my skills and proficiencies in working in teaching different mathematical concepts would be of value to my students.
