About Jennifer

Hi! I’m Jennifer, I am a Colombian-Canadian who recently completed a BA with a double major in Political Science and Modern Languages and Cultural Studies, with a focus on Spanish and Latin American Studies. I’m passionate about helping students build confidence and making language learning engaging and approachable. I adapt lessons to each student’s goals and learning style, whether that means conversation practice, grammar support, writing help, or coursework assistance. My goal is to create a supportive environment where students feel comfortable learning, growing, and asking questions.

About the lesson

I believe learning works best when it’s personalized, so my approach as a tutor is to first understand a student’s goals and learning style and build from there. Whether someone wants help with grammar, conversation, homework, writing, or exam preparation, I adapt lessons to their specific needs rather than using a one-size-fits-all approach. A typical lesson would begin with identifying goals and areas of focus, followed by interactive practice through conversation, reading, writing, examples, and activities. I aim to create a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and building confidence. What sets me apart is that I bring both lived and academic experience. I’m a native Spanish speaker from Colombia and completed a double major, including Modern Languages and Cultural Studies with a focus on Spanish and Latin American Studies. I have experience with university-level Spanish coursework, cultural and theory classes taught in Spanish, and supporting Spanish-speaking students through programs like U School. I’m comfortable working with learners of all levels, from beginners developing basic skills to high school and university students looking for more advanced support. My goal is always to meet students where they are and make learning engaging and approachable.
