About Brooke
A bit about me: I started tutoring when I was in high school as an English as a Second Language tutor and teaching assistant. From there I started tutoring privately within my community. In college I began volunteering for any teaching assistant position and tutoring opportunity I could find. One of my proudest accomplishments in college is working alongside the Chair of Religious Studies as a Writing Across the Curriculum consultant and teaching assistant. My most recent tutoring position allowed me to gain experience working with elementary school students as a reading tutor through AmeriCorps. Serving my community through education had a deep impact on how I tutor and strive to connect with my students.

In our first session I ask my students to address what areas of the subject they struggle with and what they are confident in. The following lessons we work on a mix of reinforcing what they find accessible and teasing out the inaccessible to gain a baseline. In subsequent lessons I may ask students to bring some of their school work, homework, testing materials, etc. I acknowledge that every student is different and work to shift parts of my process to fit their needs.
I find it to be crucial to stay up to date on education and tutoring research to ensure the best results. I am working to help you succeed when we are in our sessions together and when we are not. I also research your topics to see what has changed in the fields, what textbooks are teaching, and reviewing for myself.
My lessons are for you if you are in school. I have tutored high school students, college students, and elementary school students. Though I have not worked directly with middle school students, I am excited for the opportunity.
