About Katherine
Hello, my name is Katherine. I have always loved different cultures as a result and have lived in a number of different countries and have taught at schools in the UK and New Zealand over 16 years. As a student, my interest was looking at societal groups so I went onto study Sociology at university and then went into teaching it and have taught Sociology throughout my teaching career and also worked as an examiner too.
My teaching training was in Religious Education and I have taught this from year 7 through to year 13 for a number of years. Although it can be a misunderstood subject from students at times, I take pride in building a passion for the subject in my students through my genuine interest and love for the subject.
Whilst teaching in New Zealand, I became interested in Geography due to being surrounded by amazing examples of geography so I decided to go back to university as a ‘mature’ student to study it further. I have been teaching GCSE level Geography since 2010 and have been a GCSE examiner with AQA since 2018.

My teaching approach has always been about building a strong working relationship with students to get them to fulfil their potential. I have worked in both high achieving private schools where students need support to achieve the highest grades possible for them to access elite universities and also in schools where students struggle to achieve the required GCSE passes to access college courses. I am able to adapt my teaching and tutoring style to work with whatever the student requires. I have worked with many additonal needs students who struggle to access traditional exam questions and have had great success with these students. I always feel extremely proud of whatever my students achieve if I know they have done their very best
