About Lauren
I have spent six years working with 245 students, most of them genuinely anxious about language learning after difficult experiences somewhere else before finding me. My own teaching style is unusually soft and patient, shaped by a strong belief that fear, not aptitude, is the real barrier for most learners I meet. Several parents and adult students specifically sought me out after struggling with more intense, faster-paced tutors previously in their journey. My greatest strength is reading emotional discomfort early and adjusting immediately, rather than pushing forward on a rigid plan regardless of how someone feels. Watching a nervous student relax into genuine enjoyment of Spanish remains the achievement I am proudest of consistently.

My Spanish lessons move at whatever pace a student genuinely needs, never a fixed syllabus timeline, since anxiety about a language almost always outweighs any actual lack of ability. I begin every new relationship with an honest conversation about past discouragement, whether from a harsh teacher or a difficult earlier attempt, since naming that history openly makes the path forward gentler. I check in constantly during lessons, asking students to rate their comfort honestly, and I slow down the moment that comfort dips even slightly. Mistakes are met with warmth, never correction that feels like judgment or criticism of the person themselves. Vocabulary grows slowly and personally, tied to things a student actually cares about rather than an arbitrary list. Progress updates stay plain, warm, and entirely free of intimidating jargon throughout our work together.
