About Annie

I have been tutoring since June 2020, mainly working with undergraduate students teaching textbook chapters, helping to put essay plans together and marking and editing coursework. I have been able to help my students raise their coursework grades from 3/2:2 level marks to 2:1 level marks. I have done several single lessons helping students edit their dissertations and a few sessions teaching students a process of how to effectively work though assignments.

I have volunteer experience as a mentor for a young person where my role was to support my young person in figuring out their post-school steps and aid them in applying to further education. I listened to my young person’s concerns and talked through their options and offered advice and perspectives to help them grow and succeed in secondary education. I was able to help my young person decide on a path to follow, which led them to feeling more engaged in their education as they worked towards their new-found goal.

About the lesson

Hello! I am a recent graduate from University of Strathclyde with a master's in gender studies and an honours degree in psychology and a HND in social sciences. I also have a COSCA certificate in counselling skills. Having spent 7 years in higher education, I have a keen understanding of what is expected from students at all levels from higher, HNC/D, undergrad and masters. As a tutor, I’m passionate about helping my students feel confident and understood. Allow me to pass on my experience to help you grow. I can offer help regarding understanding class content, planning assignments, and general study tips. I can help you learn how to effectively research and revise content as well as how to plan and write 1st-grade essays. I like to start each session by discussing how you're feeling and figuring out how your time might be best spent to make sure you get the most out of the session. This helps ensure every lesson is as useful, productive and tailor-made for you as it can be. I can create specific lessons to supplement your course content or I can take a more freeform approach to tackling the things you are most concerned about as and when they arise - I'll strive to provide whatever you need to feel confident in your studies.
