About Nafisah
Hello, and welcome!
I'm a qualified Secondary Science Teacher with over 12 years of experience teaching in Inner London secondary schools. Throughout my career, I have supported hundreds of students across the full GCSE ability range, from those who find science challenging and need help building confidence, to high-achieving students aiming for top grades.
In addition to my classroom experience, I am also a GCSE Science Examiner. This gives me a unique insight into how examination papers are marked, what examiners are looking for in student responses, and the common mistakes that prevent students from achieving higher grades. I use this knowledge to help students not only understand the science but also develop the exam techniques needed to maximise their marks.
Science can often feel overwhelming for students. Whether it's remembering key terminology, applying knowledge to unfamiliar situations, interpreting required practicals, or answering extended-response questions, many students struggle not because they lack ability, but because they haven't yet been shown how to approach the subject effectively. My role is to bridge that gap and help students develop both confidence and competence.
Why Choose Me?
As a practising teacher and examiner, I bring together classroom expertise and first-hand examination knowledge.
What sets me apart is my ability to identify exactly where students are struggling and create personalised lessons that target those areas. Every student learns differently, which is why I tailor my teaching approach to suit individual needs, learning styles and goals.
My lessons focus on:
- Building confidence and reducing anxiety around science
- Developing a deeper understanding of scientific concepts
- Closing knowledge gaps
- Improving exam technique and question interpretation
- Learning how to structure answers to secure maximum marks
- Preparing effectively for GCSE examinations
Students often tell me that they enjoy my lessons because I explain difficult concepts clearly and break complex topics into manageable steps. I create a supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes, because that's where real learning happens.
Parents value my honest feedback, regular communication and commitment to helping students achieve their potential.
Why I Teach
Teaching has always been more than just a profession for me; it's something I genuinely enjoy.
One of the most rewarding aspects of my job is seeing students grow in confidence and begin to believe in themselves. I've worked with many students who initially felt that science "wasn't for them", only to discover that with the right support, guidance and encouragement, they were capable of achieving far more than they imagined.
I believe that success in science isn't just about intelligence. It's about understanding, resilience, practice and confidence. My goal is to help students develop all four.
Tutoring allows me to work closely with students in a personalised way that isn't always possible in a busy classroom. I enjoy building positive relationships, celebrating progress and helping students turn challenges into achievements.
Whether you're aiming to boost your confidence, improve your grades, strengthen your understanding of key topics or prepare for your GCSE exams, I am committed to helping you achieve your goals.
Together, we'll turn science from a source of stress into a subject you can approach with confidence and success.

I'm a qualified secondary science teacher with over 12 years of experience teaching in Inner London schools. My lessons are engaging, supportive and tailored to each student's needs.
As both a teacher and a parent of a GCSE-aged child, I understand the pressures students face. I use creative explanations, real-life examples and targeted questioning to make complex scientific ideas easier to understand.
I specialise in identifying misconceptions, improving exam technique and building confidence. Students are challenged with higher-order and exam-style questions while being supported every step of the way.
My aim is to help students develop both a strong understanding of science and the skills needed to achieve their best GCSE results.
