About Lianda

# About me

Hello! I’m an experienced and dedicated tutor with a strong academic background and many years of experience supporting students from secondary school through to university level.

I currently provide **one-to-one and small-group tuition in English and Mathematics**, including GCSE and A-level preparation. I have experience working with a wide range of abilities, from students who need to build confidence and strengthen their foundations to those aiming for the highest grades.

I hold a **Bachelor’s degree in Translation and Linguistics (2:1), a Master’s degree in Translation and Interpreting (Merit), and a PhD in Translation Studies**. I have also worked in higher education as a lecturer, tutor and dissertation supervisor, supporting hundreds of students with their academic development.

My teaching approach is **patient, encouraging and personalised**. I believe that students learn best when they feel comfortable asking questions and are not afraid of making mistakes. I therefore take time to understand each student's individual needs, identify areas for improvement, and adapt my lessons accordingly.

For English, I can support students with **English Language, English Literature, essay writing, reading comprehension, grammar, academic writing and exam technique**. For Mathematics, I can help students develop their understanding of key concepts, improve problem-solving skills and prepare effectively for examinations.

I have experience with **AQA, OCR and Pearson Edexcel**, and I am familiar with the demands of GCSE and post-16 study.

Whether you are looking to improve your grades, prepare for an important examination, catch up on topics you have found difficult, or simply become more confident in a subject, I would be delighted to help.

**My goal is not simply to teach you what to learn, but to help you understand how to learn, think independently and become a more confident student.**

About the lesson

Each lesson typically is 60 mins with tailored plan and structures suitable for individual tutees' needs, wishes, and goals. My techniques of tutoring are based on cognitive behavioural analysis, my research of meta-cognition and secondary education, and years of tutoring experiences. My lessons focus on solving identified areas of improvements and any concerns/problems for my GCSE private tutees.
