About Kris
Having worked with tutors myself during school, I know how frustrating it can feel when someone understands the subject but can’t explain it clearly. Lessons are built around a simple structure: first develop understanding through clear explanations of the underlying concepts, then apply that knowledge to progressively challenging exam-style questions. This approach follows learning theory — starting with grasping the “why” before moving into practice that strengthens recall, problem-solving, and exam technique. A typical lesson lasts one hour, balancing explanation with guided practice. Time is also set aside to revisit common mistakes so that weaknesses are turned into strengths over time. Qualifications include grade 9s in GCSE Maths and Physics, an A* in A-level Maths, and a final-year BEng in Robotics Engineering. Experience in the defence industry and as a GB rock climber has built focus, precision, and resilience, which are qualities carried into teaching. Lessons are tailored for GCSE Maths students of all abilities — whether aiming for a solid pass, building confidence in difficult topics, or pushing for top grades. The focus is on helping students leave each session with both a stronger understanding and the ability to tackle exam questions independently.
