About Jasleen

I’m a 3rd year Medical Student at the University of Bristol, with A*AA in Biology, Chemistry and Maths at A-level, and over 3 years of tutoring experience both privately and through Explore Learning.

Biology has always been one of my favourite subjects because there’s so much more to it than memorising endless facts. Studying Medicine has given me the chance to take the Biology I learnt at school and see how it actually applies to the human body, which I love bringing into my tutoring.

I focus on helping students understand the *why* behind biological processes rather than simply memorising mark-scheme answers. Whether it’s making a complicated pathway easier to visualise, breaking down a difficult topic into manageable steps, or practising exam questions together, I want students to understand the content well enough that they can confidently apply it to something they’ve never seen before.

Having taught students with different abilities, personalities and learning styles through Explore Learning, I’ve learnt that there’s no single “right” way to learn Biology. I adapt my sessions to find what works best for each student, using quizzes, mini-mocks and targeted exam practice to build both knowledge and confidence.

Ultimately, I want Biology to feel less like a giant list of facts to remember and more like a story that actually makes sense.

About the lesson

As a recent college graduate focusing on OCR-A Chemistry, OCR-MEI Maths, and Eduqas Biology, I bring a fresh perspective and up-to-date knowledge to provide a personalized learning experience for A-level and GCSE students.
My three years of experience as a tutor at Explore Learning have honed my ability to stay current with the latest GCSE curriculum and ensure that no question goes unanswered.
My approach to teaching is interactive and student-focused, beginning with identifying knowledge gaps and addressing the least confident topics through regular quizzes to build a solid understanding.
As exams/tests approach, I will review past quizzes to prevent repeated mistakes and conduct mini mocks with thorough feedback to make sure the content is understood and not just memorized.
