About Maryam
As an incoming Year 12 student, I completed my GCSEs in 2026, recently enough to understand the demands of the current examinations and the challenges many students face. I know that success in English is not simply about memorising quotations or following rigid structures, rather using tactical analysis to answer questions, which is where most of my classmates missed out on. It comes from developing confidence, learning how to think critically, and understanding how to communicate ideas effectively.
English has always been a subject I have genuinely loved. I find great enjoyment in exploring literature, analysing the choices writers make, and helping others discover the confidence to express their own ideas clearly. This passion has led me to achieve a Grade 9 in both GCSE AQA English Language and AQA English Literature, including full marks (160/160) in English Literature. I have also been recognised in several English poetry competitions, placing on the podium on multiple occasions.

I aim to create a supportive and encouraging learning environment where every student feels comfortable asking questions and challenging themselves. Each 1 hour lesson is carefully adapted to the individual, whether the goal is to strengthen essay writing, develop analytical skills, improve creative writing, or build confidence ahead of exams. I have tutored students since when I was in year 8, marking almost 4 years of teaching fellow classmates and younger years as well. I have always been a top student, with all A*s in my GCSEs, so you can be assured that I have the skill set and exam technique to help you.
I have taught students from year 7 all the way through year 10/11, ranging from low ability students to high ability ones. I am continuing to do so as I approach year 12, and I am fully equipped with the necessary skill set and exam technique required in order to push to the top grades: a skill many of my fellow classmates missed.
My ambition is not only to help students achieve the highest grades they are capable of, but also to help them develop a genuine appreciation for English. With my hour long sessions, they are carefully personalised to the student's skill set after observation to ensure I meet their needs and turn their weaknesses into strengths. Seeing a student grow in confidence and realise their potential is one of the most rewarding parts of teaching, and I would be delighted to support you throughout your English journey, whether you are in KS3 or KS4 as I am flexible from years 7 all the way to year 11.
