About Tommi

Hi, I'm Tommi and welcome to personalized online tutoring with a focus on individualized learning! I have just finished my first year at the University of Bath, studying Mechanical Engineering. I have achieved a grade 9 in IGCSE Mathematics and IGCSE Further Mathematics, and a grade A* in A level mathematics. Alongside my education I am a keen rugby player and swimmer.

I began tutoring by assisting my siblings in their GCSE maths, especially my younger brother where he was able to improve his grade from a predicted 7 to a predicted 9 with my help. I have also done other forms of informal tutoring for over a year, including running a lunchtime maths support club at school, where I helped GCSE and A level students on maths topics they were less confident in.

Under my guidance, I believe that I can not only assist you in achieving your academic goals in the subject, but also help you grow a genuine passion for maths. In the past, I worked with students who hated the idea of sitting in a maths classroom. However, by applying the right teaching methods and by addressing the core ideas that they were less strong on, I was able to turn maths into one of their favourite subjects.

Lets embark on this learning journey together and I hope to share some of my own passion for the subject with any potential student!

About the lesson

I teach my lessons online to students of all ablities looking to signifiacntly improve their skills in maths, wheteher its GCSE or A Level. We will start off by identifying which topics you are less strong on so that we can prioritise these. If you already know what these topics are then that's great - we can get started straight away with the second step, which is to thoroughly go through these areas to make sure there are no gaps in your knowledge. After this, I will provide tailored questions for you to do which specifically adress the key areas that you struggle the most with. After you have obtained a firm grasp on all the topics we will be moving on to looking at exam questions and practicing exam technique. By the time that you will sit the real exam you will find that answering exam questions efficiently has become second nature.

I will aim to make my lessons as in depth as possible, whilst also keeping them enjoyable and fun. I am highly flexible in regards to timings for lessons, so don’t hesitate to drop me a message to arrange a lesson at a time that works for you.
