About Tom
Just having finished my Master's degree in history on the Netherlands and preparing a PhD project in the same time, I also have a certain experience both in historic research - paleography, academic texts writing... - and in teaching. I have done various internships in middle-school in France or in Germany. In parallel, I have given occasional online or presential courses. I have already given French, English, history or geography classes to students of a wide range of levels ( from primary to high school).

Method based on the peculiar needs or problems of the student. I try to make my classes as lively as possible, regularly interacting with the students while letting them a large role in the class. Each lesson begins by a question/answers time, when the student revises what he has studied before and can ask me as many clarifications as he whishes, depending on what he hasn't understood.
Even if discussions are a predominant part of my lessons, more traditional exercices such as dissertations or commentaries will be offered, in order to help the student to reinforce his abilities in writing or thinking, but also his critical mind. Advices on method, in organisation or redaction, will be offered too. A long term follow-up would be more interesting, allowing therefore to gain more rigour and autonomy.
I try to make accessible some notions or events that can be sometimes hard to understand. For this point, I base my method on concrete examples of everyday life, while explaining in the same time the contexts of their respective times. Clarity is something crucial for me.
