About Thahiera
I'm Thahiera and I'm a certified TEFL tutor from South Africa. I have spent 12 years teaching religious studies and upon completing my certification in ESL, I've learned that teaching a language is not all that different from teaching any other subject. As an ESL tutor, I've been able to help students progress in their learning goals through interactive lessons that allow them to apply their understanding and grow confident in their abilities as well as feel safe in making mistakes by encouraging them to view errors as a learning curve to improvement in their skills and abilities. Teaching religious studies to various age groups has allowed me to adapt my teaching style to every student's needs and develop lessons that allow them to progress in their learning goals in the most productive way.

As a teacher of religious studies and English (as a foreign language), I have adapted my teaching style to being demonstrative as well as facilitating, dependent on the needs and capabilities of my students. Teaching ESL had allowed me to aid students in developing their conversational skills, expanding their vocabulary, improving their grammar, and preparing well for interviews and IELTS. In my experience as a teacher of religious studies, I have aided students in reading, writing, and improving their pronunciation in Arabic (for Qur'an recitation). Lessons are conducted in a fun and engaging manner, allowing young learners to learn through play and older learners to learn through realistic lessons that apply to daily life.
