About Steve
CELTA qualified English tutor (native speaker)
I am an enthusiastic, adaptable and fully UK-qualified (QTS) native English speaking EAL (English as an Additional Language) teacher, with five years of varied international English teaching experience in a multicultural environment and 9 years experience as an English Tutor - having returned from expat life I'm now relocated permanently in the south-west UK.
I was previously employed as a full-time EAL (English as an Additional Language) teacher in the ELL (Extended Language & Learning) department at Nexus International School, Putrajaya in Malaysia. Nexus is part of the Taylor’s Education Group, established 60 years ago and one of the leading educational providers in SE Asia.This experience included teaching students from over 35 different nationalities, in ratios ranging from 1:1 to small classes.
Although I especially enjoy helping learners fulfil their potential by preparing them for examinations in English, I also like to see them gain confidence in their use of English at any level. I particularly enjoy one-to-one teaching as I've witnessed the rapid rate of progress that students can make with the format.

After an initial (free) meeting to discuss a student's needs, and following diagnostic testing if required, in consultation with the student I plan a customised programme of learning aiming to address any identified issues. The tailored individual lessons last between 45 minutes to a 1 hour maximum, normally at the student's address. In most cases there is no need for the student to provide learning resources.
