About Adam
Hi, I’m Adam! I’m a university student studying a Bachelor of Sport and Exercise Science at AUT, with a strong background in math and statistics. I successfully completed NCEA Level 3 Statistics and have continued developing my statistical and mathematical skills at university, where statistics is part of my degree.
Through NCEA and university study, I’ve gained experience with statistics, probability, data analysis, graphs, mathematical problem-solving and using statistical methods to interpret real data. This gives me a strong foundation for helping primary, intermediate and junior high school students understand math and build confidence with topics they may be struggling with.
I also have experience coaching tennis, so I’m used to teaching younger people, breaking skills down into manageable steps and adapting how I explain something when someone doesn’t understand it the first time.
I’m friendly, patient and approachable, and I want students to feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes. My goal is to make math easier to understand while helping students become more confident and independent with their schoolwork.

My approach to tutoring is to make maths feel simple and less stressful. From my own experience, I know how frustrating it can be when a teacher explains something in a way that just doesn’t click. I try to explain problems in different ways, work through examples together, and get the student involved rather than just talking at them.
Lessons would typically be around 45–60 minutes, depending on the student’s age and what they need help with. I would focus on areas they are struggling with, help with schoolwork, and use practice questions to build their understanding and confidence.
I completed NCEA Level 3 Statistics and currently study statistics at university as part of my Bachelor of Sport and Exercise Science. I also have experience coaching tennis, which has taught me how to work with younger people, explain skills clearly, be patient, and adapt the way I teach to different learners.
My lessons are best suited for primary, intermediate and junior high school students, particularly Years 5–10. I’m happy to work with students who are struggling with maths, want some extra practice, or simply want to become more confident in class.
