About Alexandros
Hi all !
My name is Alex and I am currently in the second year of my joint honours degree in Philosophy and Theology at the University of Durham. As a tutor I like to see myself as a passionate and flexible individual, with a sincere care for the needs and wants of the people I work with. I will thusly organise and structure my lessons based on specific individual needs. As a welfare officer and vice president elect of my university college's junior common room, I have a lot of experience helping young people overcome difficulties, as well as on how to correctly convey information, support and resources. Consequentially, I in particular feel I could offer a lot of support to students struggling with confidence or performance issues.

My teaching philosophy is that lessons should be entirely led by and tailored to the needs of each individual student. I strongly believe each student is capable of achieving anything they set their mind to, and so I aspire to instill each of my pupils with the confidence to do just that.
I will focus the first lesson on assessing the needs of each new student, as well as getting to know them and building a rapport. We will then work together to achieve their goals, and overcome any challenges they may face. I strongly encourage students to view mistakes as learning experiences, thereby remembering the positive experience of learning, rather than the more negative experience of making an error.
Through my experience teaching over the years, I've grown to appreciate the importance of such a positive mindset when it comes to learning new things. I strive to make my lessons as exciting and positive as possible, while also maintaining a focused effort to improve week on week.
