About Helen
Helen is a vibrant, enthusiastic tutor who brings energy, empathy, and structure to her lessons. She places a strong emphasis on building each student’s confidence and nurturing a positive relationship with learning. Her tailored sessions—available both online and in person—are designed to support individual needs and learning styles, ensuring that every student gets the most out of their time together.
Helen specialises in English, maths, exam preparation (including 11+), and general study support. She encourages independent and creative thinking, helping students not only to succeed academically but also to enjoy the process of learning.
Helen has prepared students for entrance exams, at leading independent and grammar schools including Alleyn’s, Dulwich College, St Paul’s, JAGS, Tiffin, and St Dunstan’s. She has a successful track record and many of her students have gained scholarships as well as places at these schools. Having gone through the 11+ system herself, she understands the pressures involved and is passionate about making the experience as smooth and positive as possible for both students and their families.
Outside of tutoring, Helen is a keen cook, a regular theatre-goer, and enjoys exploring galleries and the rich cultural life of South London and beyond.

I have experience teaching across all ages and abilities - my youngest students have been five and my oldest are currently forty-five! I tailor every lesson to the individual student, working with them to ensure that they are learning and most importantly, enjoying the process. I place a lot of emphasis on building confidence as this can unlock so much ability.

Helen has been teaching the 2 kids I look after as a nanny since September 2019. She has proved herself to be reliable, a good communicant and a great teacher. Both kids enjoy their lessons with her and their English has improved thanks to her. I highly recommend her.
Helen was an absolutely excellent creative writing tutor. She really helped instill confidence and her lessons were enjoable. She is very enthusiastic and cares deeply about progress and positive attitudes to learning. I would highly reccomend.
