About Dani

Hello there! My name is Dani, and I'm a graduate from the University of Cambridge. My course was a brilliant one, because it really allowed each student to study a course specified to their own interests, by choosing their own modules. In my case, I studied neurobiology! I have also undertaken a placement at a national lab, and from the work I completed, was able to achieve co-authorship on a published scientific paper. I've also been tutoring for over 5 years, have taught over 2700 lessons (to date!) and have received hundreds of 5* reviews from my lovely students and their parents. I know how scary exams can seem, it's incredibly daunting to think that your entire future may be dictated by a test taken before you're legally an adult. I've been there, and done it, and as long as you know you've given it your best shot, you've got nothing to worry about. Try to think of exams as an opportunity for learning about things! When I'm not doing science, I'm dancing on the University team, doing Latin and ballroom dancing (Think strictly!). About the lesson

I tailor each session to the needs of the individual student. Lessons will be held online, and last for an hour. A typical session may look like this: Prior to the booking, I would ask the student to send a short list of one or two topics they are currently needing a bit more help with. From this information, I would then build a lesson plan to focus on those topics in detail. I will spend the first half of the lesson guiding the student through these topics and also linking the subject matter to some contextual material. Knowing enough information to pass exams is necessary, but dull, and researching how the science I was learning was relevant to real life is a technique I used throughout school to gain understanding. The second half of the lesson would be a guided walk-through of some exam-style, or past exam questions, consolidating the earlier work. Practice does make perfect, and knowing how to best answer the questions is also an important aspect in doing well in exams. By practising and honing these techniques as early as possible, the student will be able to get a real feel for how to begin to structure their answers to these questions in both schoolwork and in the exams.
