My Chinese Tutoring Approach — Charisse Leung
I teach Chinese with a patient, structured and supportive approach that helps students build strong language foundations and genuine confidence. My lessons focus on clear explanations, steady progress and enjoyable learning, whether students are beginning Chinese for the first time or strengthening existing skills.
Teaching Techniques & Methodology
- I break down new vocabulary and grammar into simple, manageable steps
- I use visual aids, stories and real-life examples to help younger learners stay engaged
- I incorporate speaking, listening, reading and writing to build balanced language skills
- I check understanding regularly and adjust the pace to suit each student’s needs
- I provide personalised practice, pronunciation guidance and targeted feedback
- For kindergarten and primary students, I use interactive activities to make Chinese fun and memorable
- For older learners, I focus on structured learning, exam technique and confidence in using Chinese independently
Typical Lesson Length
Most lessons are 60 minutes, giving enough time for teaching, practice and feedback.
For kindergarten and younger primary students, I also offer 45-minute sessions to keep learning focused and engaging.
Longer sessions (75–90 minutes) are available for students preparing for exams or needing extended support.
Qualifications & Experience
I am a Biochemistry undergraduate with strong multilingual experience in Cantonese, Mandarin and English. I have supported students from kindergarten to secondary level, helping them with vocabulary building, reading fluency, pronunciation, homework and exam preparation. My teaching style is friendly, patient and adaptable, making it suitable for learners who benefit from clear explanations and steady encouragement.
