About Rachel
My name’s Rachel. I’m 29 years old. Since leaving university I’ve worked in advertising and the civil service. I’m now returning to education to study for a psychology degree. Tutoring let’s me work around my studies (unlike a regular nine to five).
More than though, tutoring is rewarding work. School can be difficult, with the pressure of exams and the feeling that your whole life is riding on your results. Getting someone through that and keeping their interest in learning alive at the same time is a wonderful thing.
I’ve had some lovely emails from students after getting the results they wanted and it always puts a smile on my face.

Some one on one teaching can make all the difference!
As a tutor, I’m clear, patient and friendly.
I tailor my lessons to suit each student’s needs. We’ll talk about your goals and I’ll create a lesson plan to help you achieve them.
I use different teaching methodologies depending on how my student learns best. We can mix lectures with discussion based learning, visual aids and practical exercises as suits you.
Outside of sessions I’ll review essays and coursework to give you feedback and help you learn.
Lessons are typically an hour but can be longer or shorter as required. I teach 11+ entrance to A level. I have experience teaching all the humanities subjects: English Literature, English Language, History, Philosophy.
I’ve previously tutored students one on one for GCSE and A Levels, tutored first year university students in essay writing and worked on reading and comprehension skills with younger children in after school programs.
