About Alice
I am a friendly and experienced Maths, Economics and Mandarin tutor. At the same time, I am a 3rd year student at UCL, studying Maths with Economics. I did A levels in Maths(A*), Further Maths(A*), Economics(A) and Chinese (A). I tutor GCSE and A-Level students. Availability: Please message me for specific dates and times, anything between 8AM and 11PM on either weekdays/weekends is fine! I have availability over the summer holidays. I used to tutor Year 12 and Year 13 students for one hour every weekday in the past two years. I am really familiar with the exam board specifications and the past tutoring experience has developed my effective communication skills, being able to speak in a way that is easy to understand and listen keenly. Aside from tutoring, in the past I have volunteered at local library for Summer Reading Challenges for young children and run UCL Consulting Society as an Executive Committee. My tutoring approach focuses on supporting school lessons, explaining trickier topics, going through homeworks and past papers, and coaching exam technique. The format of lessons is subject to the preferences of students/parents but in general you can expect me to bring question sets and teaching material to each session, aligned with a topic plan/needs of the student, which we go through interactively. For students looking for a weekly tutor, I generally start by going through your course specification with you to understand areas of strength and weakness, before systematically tackling problem areas, then focusing on past papers and exam technique in the run-up to University : - University College London - Maths with Economics [2:1] School : A Levels - Maths [A*] - Further Maths [A*] - Economics [A] - Mandarin [A]
