About Steph

Tutoring experience:

I have been tutoring for over 2.5 years, with lots of experience supporting GCSE English students at a variety of different levels. I strive to ensure that students feel confident with English and understand the necessary exam techniques.

Academic background:

In May 2024, I finished my undergraduate degree in Politics and International Relations and graduated with First Class Honours.
I achieved grade 9s for English Language and Literature GCSE and an A* for English Literature A Level.

About me:

English was my favourite subject during secondary school and I love teaching it. I enjoy hearing each student's unique perspective on texts, and working with them to keep their ideas focused and clearly expressed in their writing.

In my free time, I enjoy staying active by going on walks.

About the lesson

Hello! I am a friendly and enthusiastic tutor with a love of teaching. I have been tutoring for two years, with lots of experience supporting A Level and GCSE students.

I strive to help students get the best grades they possibly can, as well as boost their confidence in the trickier topics.

I take a structured and interactive approach to lessons, aiming to create a space where students can ask questions and raise concerns.

Everyone approaches learning differently and I frame sessions with that in mind, working with students to find the subject-specific skills and revision strategies that will help them thrive. I plan for each student differently, considering their interests and what keeps them engaged. I make sure to follow exam board advice to ensure that the lessons are correctly focused.

I begin my lesson by recapping the content of the last tutoring session or doing an introduction activity, such as a mindmap about a theme. Next, we move on to the new content. This could include analysing a text, working together through practice exam questions, or teaching new concepts.

I offer tutoring for English Literature and Language GCSE (any exam board).
