About Maya
My name is Maya. I am a French tutor from Paris and I offer ‘a-la-carte’ French lessons in Montreal. I have three years experience as a French teacher. My students ranged from complete beginner to intermediate. Every lesson is customized to your strengths and weaknesses, carefully adapted to the way you learn best. I focus on listening and reading comprehension, conversation, writing, and grammar, depending on your preferences.

I based my teaching on the active involvement of the student in both speaking and listening to French in realistic everyday situations. The process consists of a gradual acquisition of grammatical structure and vocabulary. The learner is encouraged to think in the target language rather than translate. He or she hears and uses the language before seeing it written. I also include an analysis of the written language using reading comprehension, and the mastery of grammatical rules and vocabulary lists.
