About Maud

My name is Maud, and I am a native French teacher from Lyon with more than 20 years of international teaching experience. I have been teaching French since 2004 and also work as a professional translator in the film and cultural industries, translating between French, English and Portuguese.
For 12 years, I taught Theatre at the International French School in Rio de Janeiro, where I developed a dynamic and immersive approach to language learning through oral expression, creativity, structure and confidence-building. This experience gave me strong expertise in working with children, teenagers and multilingual students in demanding international environments.
Since 2020, I have been teaching online students from the UK, the United States, Canada and other international contexts, including learners based in London, New York, Miami, Vancouver, Hong Kong and the San Francisco Bay Area. I currently collaborate with several international education institutions specialised in academic excellence, bilingual education and international curricula, including IB programmes and exam preparation.
I specialise in French for international and bilingual students, offering tailored lessons for learners of all levels, from complete beginners (A1) to advanced speakers (C2). I work with adults learning French for travel, relocation, professional purposes or personal enrichment, as well as teenagers preparing for highly demanding academic programmes and examinations.
My expertise includes preparation for: • GCSE French • A Level French • IB French (Ab Initio, French B SL/HL and French A Literature) • DELF, DALF and TCF examinations
I am particularly familiar with the expectations of the IB and British curricula and regularly support students with oral exams, essay writing, literary analysis, pronunciation, grammar and exam strategy.
Alongside teaching, I have extensive experience as a translator for academic, literary and audiovisual projects, including award-winning film scripts, museum and cultural materials, and academic research. This background allows me to bring a rich cultural and linguistic dimension to my lessons.
My teaching style combines structure, precision and flexibility. I adapt every lesson to the student’s level, personality and objectives, creating a supportive environment where students can build confidence and make lasting progress.
With me, there are no generic lessons. Every session is carefully designed to help students develop not only their language skills, but also their confidence, cultural understanding and ability to communicate naturally and accurately in French.

About the lesson

My lessons are dynamic, engaging and carefully adapted to each student's level, goals and personal interests. I teach online via Zoom and have extensive experience with learners of all ages, from young children to professionals.

I offer support from beginner to advanced levels and specialise in exam preparation for official certifications such as DELF, DALF, TCF, IB French and GCSE French. I’m familiar with the specific requirements of each exam and help students build the skills and confidence they need to succeed.

Each lesson is conversation-driven and built around authentic materials such as news articles, short stories, interviews or real-life situations. Grammar, vocabulary and conjugation are integrated naturally and progressively, so you can develop fluency without losing clarity.

My approach is structured but flexible. Whether you're learning French for school, travel, work or personal enrichment, I’ll create a learning experience that is motivating, relevant and fully tailored to you.
