About Charlotte

Bonjour! I’m a certified French teacher with a Bachelor of Education (French Specialization) from the University of British Columbia and experience teaching French Immersion and English programs from Kindergarten to Grade 5. I create engaging, student-centered lessons that help learners build confidence in speaking, reading, and writing French. My approach is inclusive, supportive, and adapted to each student’s needs—whether they are new to French or looking to strengthen their skills. With a background in literacy support and multicultural classrooms, I understand the unique challenges international students face when learning a new language. I aim to make every session positive, motivating, and tailored to each learner’s goals. If you’re seeking a kind, patient, and professional French tutor who can help your child thrive and enjoy learning, I’d love to work with you!

Approach as a Tutor and How I Share My Knowledge

Teaching Methodology and Techniques
My teaching approach is collaborative, student-centered, and grounded in inclusive practice. Drawing on my Bachelor of Education (French Specialization) from UBC and my experience in both French Immersion and English classrooms, I prioritize engaging students through meaningful, inquiry-based learning. I integrate differentiated instruction, formative assessment, and a focus on authentic language use to meet each learner where they are. My goal is to help students build confidence and proficiency in French by using the language in real-world, relevant contexts.

A Typical Lesson Plan
A typical lesson begins with a short warm-up activity—such as a game, song, or discussion—to activate prior knowledge and set a positive tone. Next, I introduce the day’s objective using visuals and modeling, followed by guided practice where students collaborate in pairs or small groups. Independent practice allows for personalized learning, with my support tailored to individual needs. Lessons conclude with reflection or sharing time, encouraging metacognition and celebrating progress.

What Sets Me Apart as a Tutor
What distinguishes me as a tutor is my commitment to inclusive, culturally responsive teaching and my ability to make learning both accessible and engaging. My experience co-teaching, supporting diverse learners, and aligning instruction with the BC Curriculum and Early Learning Framework enables me to design developmentally appropriate lessons that inspire curiosity and confidence. I bring warmth, adaptability, and a strong focus on relationship-building—creating spaces where students feel safe, supported, and motivated to grow.

Who the Lessons Are For
My lessons are designed for elementary students (Kindergarten to Grade 7), particularly those in French Immersion or early French language programs. I also support students developing foundational literacy skills in both French and English, as well as those needing individualized support to strengthen confidence and proficiency in reading, writing, and oral communication.
