About Gidi

My name is Gidi and I am a third-year French and Spanish (MA) student at the University of Edinburgh, currently living in Toulouse for my semester abroad. I began sharing my love of learning languages in Sixth Form, where I acted as a senior helper for younger students that were struggling with their studies and then moved onto private French tutoring, which I now have four years of experience in. I have worked with a whole range of students, from complete beginners to national exam levels. I have always been extremely passionate about foreign languages and from the age of 12, when I started learning French, I have consistently tried to immerse myself as much as possible in my French practice and the amazing culture that comes with the language, having done several exchanges to French cities.

I feel that my recent experience as a secondary school french student, achieving a high A* in my A-level sets me apart from others as I have a very up-to-date and reliable perspective on the most effective ways to work through the fairly extensive syllabuses that come with secondary school french. I will always aim to provide professional yet personable lessons that will encourage students to gain the confidence to express themselves in the amazing French language.

About the lesson

I base my lessons around the four core principles of language learning: reading, writing, speaking and listening. By offering a whole variety of dynamic, creative and interactive activities, exercises and assessments, I aim to provide lessons tailored around the unique and individual needs of each student, whether that be exam preparation or more general language learning. As a current student of the language, I am conscious how important it is to have the confidence of every student at the forefront of my mind and work hard to bring them to a point where they feel comfortable expressing themselves in French. From my own recent experience as a language student, I feel that my knowledge of the GCSE and A-Level syllabuses and the best way to work through them from a student's perspective make me a very personable and reliable tutor. Having manoeuvred through the very extensive syllabuses of secondary school French, I feel I am able to provide great insight into the most of tackling the somewhat intimidating course, whatever the student's level may be.
