About Serena
Hi!
My name is Serena and I'm a freelance teacher who can teach English, Psychology, Journalism, Gender Studies and related subjects. I have more than a year of formal, classroom teaching experience in a school where I taught grades 4 to 10. I did my Bachelor's with a triple major in Women Studies, Psychology and Journalism.
I have a holistic approach to teaching and I support not just the academic development but also the development of other aspects of a child's life such as their creativity and their ability to rationalise and think critically, among others.
I've worked as a tutor for Sling, as a writing consultant for English First and worked at Master's School as an English teacher for more than a year.

I prefer using an immersive and practical approach to my teaching. I use worksheets, works of fiction and daily scenarios to help the student apply their knowledge practically in everyday life while also being able to complete their academic syllabus. The student comes first and I foster a safe and healthy environment where the student can learn and question without any fear of being berated.
