About Sarah

I am a passionate and dedicated pre-service teacher with experience working in primary school classrooms. I am committed to supporting students in building both their academic skills and their confidence in learning.
Through my teaching placements, I have developed practical experience in planning and delivering engaging lessons, supporting a range of learning abilities, and creating positive, inclusive classroom environments. I bring this same level of care, preparation, and professionalism into every tutoring session.
I understand that every student learns differently, which is why I take a personalized approach to tutoring. I focus on clear explanations, patience, and encouragement to ensure each student feels supported and capable of success.
Parents and students can feel confident that I am reliable, well-prepared, and committed to achieving meaningful learning outcomes. My goal is not only to improve academic performance but also to help students develop confidence, independence, and a positive attitude towards learning.

About the lesson

My approach to tutoring is student-centred, supportive, and flexible. I focus on building a positive learning environment where students feel confident to ask questions, take risks, and develop their skills at their own pace. I aim to make learning engaging and meaningful by connecting content to students’ interests and prior knowledge.

I use a combination of explicit teaching, guided practice, and hands-on learning such as breaking concepts into simple, manageable steps, using visual aids, examples, and real-life connections, asking questions to check understanding and encourage thinking, providing immediate feedback to support improvement and adapting lessons to suit different learning styles and abilities.

I also incorporate elements of differentiated instruction and scaffolding to ensure each student is supported and challenged appropriately.

Lessons typically run for 40–60 minutes and are structured to maximise learning time:

While I am new to private tutoring, I have valuable experience working in classroom settings through my teaching placements. During this time, I have planned and delivered engaging lessons, worked with students of varying abilities, used differentiated strategies to support diverse learners and built strong relationships with students to support their learning and wellbeing.

My tutoring is suitable for students from Prep to Year 6, who need help with anything, but Ido specialise in Mathematics.
