About Zoe
Hi, I'm Zoe! I'm a bilingual French and English speaker and a fourth-year student at Queen's University studying Life Sciences with a specialization in Biomedical Sciences while also completing a certificate in law.
I have several years of experience working with children and tutoring students of different ages and learning levels. I worked at Kumon, where I helped students develop their English and math skills, and I have also independently tutored children in French. I currently volunteer as a tutor with the non-profit organization Nankind, where I continue to gain experience supporting students and adapting to their individual needs.
Having learned a second language myself, I understand that becoming comfortable in another language takes time, practice, and confidence. I know how intimidating it can be to make mistakes or speak when you are still learning, which is why I aim to create a patient and encouraging environment where students feel comfortable practicing and asking questions.
I genuinely enjoy working with people and helping students gain confidence in their abilities. I am friendly, approachable, and patient, and I believe learning is most effective when lessons are adapted to the individual rather than using the same approach for every student. My goal is not only to help students strengthen their English skills, but also to help them feel more confident using English in school, everyday conversations, and new situations.

My approach to tutoring is patient, encouraging, and personalized to each student’s individual needs and goals. I understand that learning English can feel intimidating, so I focus on creating a comfortable environment where students feel confident asking questions, making mistakes, and practicing their skills.
Lessons can focus on conversational English, reading comprehension, vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation, and writing depending on the student’s level and goals. I like to incorporate real-life examples, guided practice, and conversation so that students can apply what they learn outside of our lessons.
With previous experience tutoring children at Kumon, Nankind, and independently, I have worked with students with different learning styles and abilities. I adapt my teaching methods to each student rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach. My English lessons are suitable for children, teenagers, and other learners who are looking to strengthen their English skills, improve their fluency, or simply feel more confident communicating in English.
