About Claire

About Me

My name is Claire, and I am a qualified Foundation Phase teacher with 7 years of classroom experience working with young learners. Teaching is truly my passion, and I believe that strong foundations in English are key to a child’s confidence and future success.

I create a safe, nurturing, and encouraging learning environment where children feel comfortable to try, make mistakes, and grow. I understand that every child learns differently, and I take the time to adapt my teaching to suit each learner’s unique needs and pace.

I am known for being patient, kind, and supportive, while still providing structure and clear expectations. I focus not only on academic progress, but also on building self-confidence, independence, and a love for learning.

With my experience in the classroom, I have a strong understanding of curriculum expectations, early literacy development, and the challenges young learners may face. I work closely with parents, offering feedback and guidance to support learning at home.

About the lesson

My lessons are structured, supportive, and fun, designed specifically for Foundation Phase learners to build strong, confident English foundations.

• Reading skills – fluency, comprehension, and confidence
• Writing development – sentence building, handwriting, spelling & punctuation
• Vocabulary building through stories, games, and conversation

• Lessons are individualised to suit each child’s pace and learning style
• A multi-sensory approach (visuals, movement, games, and hands-on activities)
• Positive reinforcement to build confidence and motivation
• Gentle support for struggling learners and enrichment for confident readers

Lesson Structure
• Short, focused activities to keep young learners engaged
• A balance of learning + play (especially for younger children)
• Clear goals for each lesson
• Regular feedback for parents on progress
