About Kristy

I am a native speaker of English with over 15 years’ teaching experience. I have taught both online and in-class lessons for three universities as a tutor of Academic English, Business Studies and Psychology to undergraduate students. I am an expert in essay writing skills and have not only taught this as part of Academic English, but I have also written and marked English and business exams and therefore know what examiners are looking for. I also teach IELTS exam preparation online for one-to-one and group classes.

I have been told by students that I am friendly, and I try to make learning interesting and fun. Each lesson is tailored to the student’s needs, having assessed their current level and what they want to achieve. Having taught international students, I use language which is easy to understand and teach at the student’s pace. As I have a PGCE in English Language Teaching, I use a variety of task-based activities in class to keep lessons interesting so that students are able to learn in different ways to ensure comprehension. I believe that learning should be a safe space where making mistakes is an opportunity for real learning to take place. My key achievements are coaching Russian children to get into the British private school of their choice, helping students get the IELTS grades they need to get into university as well as teaching undergraduate students how to achieve their desired grade in essay and dissertation writing skills required at university.

About the lesson

I have experience of teaching online for three universities at undergraduate level and I have also taught English in various private language schools in the UK. Previously, I worked in finance and audit for corporate companies where I was a business analyst and audit analyst for a major credit card and insurance company. However, teaching is what I enjoy most as I get a sense of fulfilment from working with others and helping them to achieve their goals. The subjects I have taught are Academic English (including dissertation help), IELTS, Psychology and Business Studies to a wide range of nationalities and age ranges from the age of 10 upwards, both in classes and one-to-one teaching and online. I have also taught overseas as a private tutor preparing children for UK private school admission and mixed multi-lingual students including many Middle Eastern, Russian and Chinese students. This means I am aware of the common errors students may make in English due to their first language.
