About Hannah
I have a PhD in Literary Criticism and Textual Studies from an R1 university. I've taken a break from full-time teaching in order to focus on what I love best about the job: one-on-one instruction. I've spent over ten years in writing labs and tutoring centers, helping high school students, undergraduates, masters and doctoral candidates, college athletes, and nontraditional students find the writer within. I've taught everything from freshman composition to upper level literature courses and helped students professionalize their writing for a variety of industries.

Every tutoring session is a unique opportunity to hone your writing craft. At the foundation of each interaction is a conversation--my approach is to meet you where you are currently and coach you through the writing process.
Each lesson starts with a writing prompt. What purpose are you trying to achieve? Who is your audience? What do you want to leave your readers with when they've finished your piece? Once those questions are answered, I'll encourage you to get as many of your thoughts on the page as possible. Then, it's time to organize those thoughts. By this point, your project has started to look like a real piece of writing!
Then, it's a matter of shaping, revising, and proofreading.
I can enter into this equation and offer my guidance at any of these stages. Maybe you have outlining down, but struggle to get your thoughts on the page. Maybe you're great at a first draft, but draw a blank when it's time to revise. I can help at any of these points.
Academically, I specialize in literature, history, philosophy, and the arts. I'm also an expert in helping to write statements of purpose, interest letters, resumes, CVs, and admissions essays.
